The Korean skincare routine emphasizes healthy, glowing and hydrated skin over covering it under many layers of makeup. This routine consists of ten steps that makes fine lines and wrinkles less visible. You would surely wonder why this routine is named after Korean skin; that’s because the products of this routine are made in Korea. Western skincare focuses on exfoliating for skin renewal, while a Korean skincare routine focuses on putting nutrients into the skin.
A Korean routine always starts with removing dirt/make-up with and oil-based cleaner. Then cleansing the oil residue and clogged pores with a water-based product.

The 10 steps of the Korean skincare routine

  1. Use an oil-based cleaner;
  2. follow up with a water-based cleanser, i use african black soap, click here to read all about it;
  3. exfoliate the skin;
  4. use a toner to remove any last traces of dirt stuck in your pores.
  5. The cleaning proces is finished. Now use an Essence to maximize hydration and improve the absorption of the following skin care products;
  6. use a Serum, I use the vitamin oil from Almaaz;
  7. follow up with a sheet mask;
  8. then apply an eye cream, I use vaseline;
  9. second-last but not least, add a humidifier/moisturizer to your face;
  10. finnaly apply a Sunscreen, preferably with an SPF of 50. Read more about the importance of using sunscreen in this skintalk.

In the previous article Chara (27,recruiter) describes the skin problems that she faced, after her move from Greece to the Netherlands.
She told us that she uses the Korean skin care routine every evening.
Chara has shortened the routine that actually consists of 10 steps to 6 steps. Read Chara’s version of this routine below!
