Chara Kaimaki (28) suffers from acne on a few spots on her face during her menstruation. The breakout occurs when the menstruation starts and ends when the menstruation ends.
The female menstrual cycle causes hormone levels to rise and fall.
The acne that occurs hits the skin differently every time of the month. (Some) women often experience acne breakouts on or around day 20 of the menstrual cycle. Below are given some tips to deal with this breakout throughout the time of your period.

Prepare

If you know that you suffer from acne during your period then it is convenient to prepare your diet, products and skincare before that time of the month occurs. Preparing yourself is essential for your skin to not break out as heavy as it usually does.
In the following alinea’s I will give you an insight on how to deal with this!

Use the right products

Use non-comedonic products such as the Madagaskar centella Ampoule this serum has skinfriendly ingredients that decreases the number of breakouts that you will experience. The Madagaskar centella is made in Korea and tackles problems such as acne, skin hypersensitivity, enlarged pores and redness using ingredients from the best sources. This serum is enriched with albumine en aloë vera.

Comedogenic products (products with harsh additions) have pore-clogging ingredients that will cause your skin to have more acne. Also products with Salicic Acid can help, Salicic Acid helps to dissolve sebum in the pores. Don’t use oily products when this breakout has occured. Also, eat less sugar and watch you diet.

Peeling treatment

Make an appointment at the skinclinic for a peelingtreatment. I have had a biopeeling at Yourskintherapist and it is definitely recommended!
Biopeeling helps to remove dead skincells. Your old skin gets off and new skin grows! It takes some time for the new skin to grow back so I would recommend you to do this  outside of summer.

Stay hydrated

Hydrating your skin from the inside out is the key to keeping it nourished. Dehydrated skin can appear flaky, dull and dry. The cause of dehydrated skin can be: extreme temperatures, over-exfoliation, airconditioning and more. Drink water and use hydrating skincare products such as hyaluronic acid & glycerin. Hydration gives the skin a soft and elastic feel but it won’t last long if the water is able to evaporate. Sealing the hydrated skin in with oil (moisture) will ensure you of long lasting smoother skin. Knowing the difference between products that hydrate and moisturize is the key to creating an effective skincare routine to protect your skin’s barrier. See here the difference between hydration and Moisture.
