Hadia (22, student Business Innovation) has acne-prone skin.
In this article she is going to tell us all about how she deals with it as she gives great tips on how to manage acne.

What is your skin type?
Hadia has a family background wherein the skin type varies from oily to dry, she describes her skin as being oily, but it becomes dry and prone to acne when not taking care of it.

How long do you have acne?
‘’I did, when I was in Spain. Hot weather plays a role on my skin, it gets really oily, and I sweat a lot which results to freckles in the form of water. They gave me a mask to reduce the marks on my face. The smell was so strong that I used it for only six months.
My sister and I are of South American descent. She has very oily skin, when she goes to the dermatologist in Europe, they have a ‘western’ way of treating acne. They gave her some products and instead of helping her, it did the opposite.”

What are some natural remedies to combat your acne?
‘‘First of all I like to wash my face and then let it dry by itself, instead of using a towel.  I have a lot of fruit masks like coconut, mango and raspberry on my face. Lemon and cinnamon are my favorite because it cleans it very well.”

Rhoda: I see that you have alot of products on the table, what do you use on a daily basis?
The cleanser to wash it up and clear all the dirt (last product on the right).
I use the calming gel when my skin is really irritated (next to the cleanser).
I use Dermisa to reduce the red spots for the marks that I have.
And obviously the sunscreen, you can’t go outside without it.

Rhoda: why can’t we go outside without it?
There are UV-rays everywhere, even in the winter and it might not mark you right now but over the years you will notice that your face is a bit burnt because of the sun. Vitamin D is good for the skin, but it is not good that we are exposed to it all of the time. My aunt doesn’t look like 40 and her secret is SUNSCREEN. Sunscreen above 70 spf has more chemicals inside so I recommend the 50.

What are some negative/positive comments that you get about your skin?
Hadia doesn’t like when people say that she should not touch her spots. Hadia’s face shows acne when she gets on her period. A positive comment is when people tell me that my face shines from the products that I use.

What advice do you give people your age who are insecure about their acne?
‘’When I buy a product, I look at the products and also where the components come from and what does it benefit you. If my scalp is also then it also affects my face. Natural products are the way to go.’’

What breaks your skin out?
Touching and lactose.

What do you not recommend people with acne prone skin to do so that their skin won’t break out too much?
‘’Don’t touch everything you see and then put it on your face again.
Second, wash your face.
You don’t need 100 products, maybe only two.
Take it easy and don’t let your skin routine be complicated!’’
